GENERAL

A sub-race of humans, made culturally and physiologically distinct from their ancestors through hundreds of years of life underground.

SOCIETY

Originally formed as a human colony in the inhospitable mountains of Virtus, dwarves have long since achieved independence. While for a period of time the dwarves lived under a hereditary dictatorship much like humans, recently the monarchy has been deposed by powerful merchant princes, who established themselves as a new ruling body dubbed “Virtus Holdings”. The former aristocracy has banded together into a semi-criminal organization called “the Royalists”. Dwarven society is greatly divided into those who welcome foreign people and ideas and dwarven supremacists who believe that Virtus should assert influence over the other islands.

PHYSIOLOGY

Dwarves are much sturdier than humans, but they are usually hunched over and have back problems from an early age. Some dwarves can have impressive beards, but this is not universal.

RELIGION

Dark God Riiaavat - greed worship. A religion taught by Piglin missionaries which has gradually replaced the indigenous ancestral cults.
